The paper-cut form of cloud is inspired by Chinese shadow play, aiming to depict clouds encompassing the environment. Dragons swoosh in between that intrigue viewers to trace heads and ends but they can’t. The mysterious existence of the dragon and the thick cloud creates an ominous atmosphere which is the opposite of most context of dragon patterns -- fortune, power, and brightness.

I investigate which color scheme works the best for something ominous impending. A combination of cold and low-saturation colors can have a mixed effect.

Print experiment samples below are building up the atmosphere I want to create.
